Counselling & Psychotherapy
What is counselling?
Counselling is a complex interactive process where one person seeks help from another, usually of an emotional nature.
How will it help me?
You’ll feel better about yourself and your life. It will help you identify self-destructive thoughts, repetitive patterns and behaviours and offer corrective coping strategies, while in a supportive environment.
Who needs therapy?
Anyone who has identified that professional assistance will help them with an existing problem like a relationship, too much stress, anxiety, anger, grief, or suffering from stress-related physical ailments.
How long will I have to go?
Length of treatment varies. It depends on the client’s willingness to explore and work with the various contributing factors and on the extent of their issues.
What about medication?
It’s important to ask your physician about all prescribed medications. Research indicates that successful results are more likely if therapy is used at the same time as prescribed medications like antidepressants. Alternative remedies are also available from complementary health care providers.
How much does it cost?
Treatment costs vary from $40.00 per one hour session for group treatment to $100.00 for individual treatment, $130.00 for couples and $160 for mediation. Costs are not covered by O.H.I.P. but may be covered by some extended health plans, Victim Quick Response program, I.C.E. program, or vehicle insurance.
